The Gas Connection Inc. provides critical products and services and is exempt from COVID-19 PANDEMIC Colorado State Executive Order(s) D 2020-17, D2020-13 and public Health Order 20-24
Company training and protocol for COVID-19 has been implemented by TGC and health and safety policies will continue to be updated in order to stay current through this pandemic.
The training and procedural instructions we have implemented with our employees follow all local, state, and federal guidelines as well as CDC, and WHO recommendations. Training steps have been taken to keep all employees, customers and contractors we are working with as safe as possible at all times.
TGC will continue to educate and train all employees. Each employee is required to sign the training literature that they have received stating they “understand and will abide by all guidelines” set forth by the government agencies and the CDC. Employees have also been trained and are abiding by COVID-19 Multi-industry Construction Guidance requirements.
With that being said, employees of The Gas Connection reserve the right to ask COVID-19 health questions regarding your residence or job site to keep our employees safe through this pandemic.
Every employee has their temperature taken at the start of the shift each day. If an employee has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, cold or flu-like symptoms, sore throat, difficulty breathing, or tightness in the chest they will be sent home immediately. Employees are also asked other health questions recommended by the CDC which could result in them being sent home until being cleared for work by a physician. Any employee who has tested positive for COVID-19 will also be required to stay home and follow the CDC’s instructions. The Gas Connection has increased housekeeping and sanitization efforts at the corporate office location. That means often-touched surfaces such as door handles, telephones, countertops, keypads and restroom surfaces are frequently disinfected. In efforts to prevent the spread of this infection, we are advising our employees to use gloves, disinfectant spray, and alcohol based cleaning solutions.
Employees that require the use of a vehicle are asked to keep the inside and outside of the vehicle clean. That is done by using a rag / paper towel, alcohol-based disinfection that contains minimum 60% alcohol (per CDC’s recommendation) and personal protection equipment. First, the exterior door handles need to be wiped down before entering the vehicle. Next the steering wheel, buttons, turn signal lever, gear shift, etc. must be sanitized. Seats, handles, seat belts and other surfaces that are touched frequently are extensively focused on.
If items need to be transported, they are placed in the trunk or rear cargo area to ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle.
Although The Gas Connection makes every effort that each vehicle going out on a job only has one occupant, sometimes this is not possible and two people are required to ride together. In this case, for social distancing purposes, both employees are required to wear a non-medical face covering, gloves, and keep as much distance as possible. If possible, it is recommended the windows stay down until they have reached their destination.
When working with other construction crews, these guidelines must be followed.
- Reduce size of work crews
- Minimize social interaction between work teams
- Avoid contact with visitors
- Maintain a 6-foot distance between employees wherever possible
- In-person meetings should be avoided
- Workers must not congregate during breaks
- Clean commonly touched surfaces before and after operation
- Follow cleaning procedures with an approved disinfectant
- Use of personal protective equipment for hygiene and safety
- Any worker displaying possible COVID-19 symptoms may not participate in construction work
- Focus on activities that are truly critical
- Safe shutdown of work
TGC is following the new requirement set by the state of Colorado which states the following: “Workers in critical businesses and critical government functions in which workers interact in close proximity with other employees or with the public must wear medical or non-medical cloth face coverings that cover the nose and mouth while working, except where doing so would inhibit that individual’s health”.
